
2008 – Pierfrancesco Guarguaglini
Leonardo Prize WinnersPier Francesco Guarguaglini was awarded a degree in electronic engineering at Pisa University, a PhD in electrical engineering at Pennsylvania University, and a professorship in electric communications at Rome University. He has developed the various stages of his career at the Finmeccanica Group, of which he has been CEO. Pier Francesco Guarguaglini was behind the strategic expansion of Finmeccanica’s international acquisitions and collaborations in the civil and military sectors, as well as development of centres of excellence in the aeronautical, helicopter, electronic instrument and aerospace segment, which has raised Italy’s international profile in high-tech fields. Pier Francesco Guarguaglini was awarded the Order of Merit for Labour in 2004, as well as the French Legion of Honour and an honorary degree in management engineering from Genoa University in 2007.
