Alberto Bombassei – Presidente Brembo

Born in Vicenza in 1940, Alberto Bombassei is the president of Brembo, a leading company in the global market for the design and manufacture of high-performance braking systems, as well as for innovation in disc brake equipment technology. Under his presidency the company has become part of the FTSE MIB Index, where the share has risen constantly, registering stock market growth of 770% over the last five years. He is the founder and president of the Kilometro Rosso Scientific and Technological Park, a campus inspired by a multisectoral and interdisciplinary approach, which enhances the dialogue between academic, entrepreneurial and scientific cultures. In February 2013 he was elected for Civic Choice with Mario Monti to the Chamber of Deputies, where he is a member of the 10th Productive Activities, Trade and Tourism Commission. Since 2016 he has been a member of the board of directors of ISPI – the Institute for International Political Studies. In the same year he joined the board of directors of the Italy-China Foundation. Since 2014 he has been a member of the Italian-German High Level Dialogue panel, a high-profile initiative aimed at relaunching and stepping up dialogue between Italy and Germany. From 2004 to 2012 he was Vice President for Industrial Relations, Social Affairs and Welfare at Confindustria. From 2001 to 2004 he was the president of Federmeccanica. In December 2014 he was decorated with the honour of Commander of the Royal Order of Isabella the Catholic. In 2004 he was awarded the Order of Merit for Labour. In 2003 he was awarded an honorary degree in mechanical engineering by the University of Bergamo. Over the years he has received several awards, including the Transatlantic Award 2014 of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy; the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 award; and the Tiepolo 2012 award, which he received from the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Spain and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Madrid.
